The vaginal environment is naturally delicate and carefully balanced. For most women of reproductive age, vaginal pH sits between 3.8 and 4.5, creating a protective, acidic environment that supports vaginal health.

This balance can change:
  • Before puberty and after menopause, vaginal pH often rises to 5.0–7.0 due to lower oestrogen levels
  • Exposure to semen, which is alkaline, can temporarily raise vaginal pH to 7.2–8.0

Because of this, an ideal intimate vaginal lubricant should be formulated within a pH range of approximately 4.0–5.5 to remain compatible with the natural vaginal environment.

With a pH of 5.01, UTÖ is very close to physiological vaginal pH hence suitable for:
