The side effects that treatments, including cancer treatments, have on the skin is not widely talked about. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and over 60% of what we put on our skin can be absorbed. Skin conditions and treatments that impact our skin can affect confidence and self-esteem hence we are taking the ‘one less thing to worry about’ approach using the power of nature.

CANCER:

Surgery

The rate at which our skin heals following a surgical procedure will vary depending on the type of surgery, where the surgery occurred on the body and also down to an individual's overall health and skin type. The fact is that every wound requires its own specific care, and a dermatologist is best placed to support surgeons in this process particularly as infection control is critical. Post-surgery however, our products support basic care of the skin to help enhance natural healing, minimise scarring and support skin regeneration following the surgery, using the power of natural remedies. The impact of anaesthetic can also include skin tightness and and possible scarring.

Chemotherapy:

Can cause dryness, peeling and itchy skin. Skin can become more sensitive to sunlight and heat with a higher risk of sunburn. Chemotherapy can affect the skin's natural moisture by reducing the natural oils the body produces. There is then the need to help restore and nourish the skin with the frequent use of heavier moisturisers.

Radiotherapy:

Can cause dryness, itching, blistering and or peeling. Radiation can make one’s skin look like its sunburnt or leave skin swollen, puffy, or with sores that get infected and with an increased risk of developing skin cancer in the future because it is damaging the skin.
