FAQs

Why is the company called Naturally Tiwa Skincare?

Over the years, we recognised that the word Tribal carried connotations that could feel divisive rather than inclusive. For five years, we worked to unite people through shared values — love of nature, heritage, and community — and this journey led us to TIWA.

In Yoruba, one of Nigeria’s main languages, Tiwa means “One who owns the crown” or “One who wears the crown”. For us, this places the crown not only on our brand, but also on our customers and partners — a celebration of empowerment, belonging, and ownership.

TIWA in one word tells our story: Transparency and Traceability, Innovative products for the Whole body, and Authenticity to our values. It honours our African roots while celebrating our identity as a proudly British brand.

What does Source to Jar mean?

Our Source to Jar journey begins in Nigeria, where women in our partner community handcraft shea butter using traditional methods. It continues all the way to the jar you hold in your hands, ensuring full transparency and positive impact with every purchase.

What do you mean by Trade Not Aid?

We don’t believe in handouts. Instead, we build sustainable partnerships. By sourcing directly from women-led cooperatives in Nigeria, we provide fair employment, training, and infrastructure that creates long-term empowerment and independence.

What does being a B Corp mean for Naturally Tiwa Skincare?

Being a certified B Corporation means we meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact. As one of only a handful of women-owned skincare B Corps in the UK, this certification reinforces our promise to put purpose before profit — always.
