  • Exposure to semen, which is alkaline, can temporarily raise vaginal pH to 7.2–8.0

Because of this, an ideal intimate vaginal lubricant should be formulated within a pH range of approximately 4.0–5.5 to remain compatible with the natural vaginal environment.
