OUR STORY

Why is the company called Naturally Tiwa Skincare?

Over the years, we recognised that the word Tribal carried connotations that could feel divisive rather than inclusive. For five years, we worked to unite people through shared values — love of nature, heritage, and community — and this journey led us to TIWA.

In Yoruba, one of Nigeria’s main languages, Tiwa means “One who owns the crown” or “One who wears the crown”. For us, this places the crown not only on our brand, but also on our customers and partners — a celebration of empowerment, belonging, and ownership.

TIWA in one word tells our story: Transparency and Traceability, Innovative products for the Whole body, and Authenticity to our values. It honours our African roots while celebrating our identity as a proudly British brand.

What does Source to Jar mean?

Our Source to Jar journey begins in Nigeria, where women in our partner community handcraft shea butter using traditional methods. It continues all the way to the jar you hold in your hands, ensuring full transparency and positive impact with every purchase.

What do you mean by Trade Not Aid?

We don’t believe in handouts. Instead, we build sustainable partnerships. By sourcing directly from women-led cooperatives in Nigeria, we provide fair employment, training, and infrastructure that creates long-term empowerment and independence.

What does being a B Corp mean for Naturally Tiwa Skincare?

Being a certified B Corporation means we meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact. As one of only a handful of women-owned skincare B Corps in the UK, this certification reinforces our promise to put purpose before profit — always.

OUR PRODUCTS

Who can use our products?

Everyone. From newborns with eczema, to adults with psoriasis or rosacea, to menopausal women experiencing dryness, to people undergoing cancer treatment with sensitive skin — our products are designed for all life stages and skin types.

And if you don’t have a skin condition? They’re still perfect for nourishing, everyday skincare.

How do your products help with skin conditions?

Our formulations are not medical treatments, but they’re packed with natural butters and oils known to soothe and protect skin. Customers have found relief from:

  • Dry, itchy skin

  • Eczema and psoriasis flare-ups

  • Rosacea and sensitivity

  • Skin dryness linked to menopause

  • Side effects of cancer treatments (e.g. chemo and radiotherapy)

We believe nature has the power to restore comfort and confidence in your skin.

Why is your product texture different?

Our products are waterless and preservative-free, which makes them richer than mainstream creams. Scoop a little out, warm between your hands, and let it melt into your skin. A little goes a long way.

What are your main ingredients?

Our hero is unrefined shea butter, sustainably sourced from Nigeria. We blend it with carefully chosen natural oils to nourish, protect, and repair. Every product page lists its full ingredient breakdown.

Why do you create multi-purpose products?

We believe less is more. Each product is intentionally designed to be multi-purpose — meaning fewer jars in your bathroom, less waste for the planet, and more versatility for you.

Are your products safe and ethical?

Yes. Our products are:

  • Vegan Certified by The Vegan Trademark

  • Cruelty-Free under the Leaping Bunny Programme

  • Independently safety tested, each with a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR)

Why are your moisturisers called Body Foods?

Because they feed your skin with nutrients from nature. While not edible, we live by the philosophy: if it’s good enough to eat, it’s good enough to put on your skin.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes. We use recyclable glass jars and cartons, with minimal plastic. Labels are screen-printed directly onto jars to reduce waste.

IMPACT & COMMUNITY

How do you support communities in Nigeria?

We’ve established a shea processing facility in Gwagwalada, Nigeria, and the Kingdom of Essan, Nigeria employing women in safe, fair conditions. Every purchase helps provide sustainable livelihoods and builds opportunities for future generations.

How do you support your local community in the UK?

We’re proud partners of Willen Hospice, with proceeds from our products in their shops supporting compassionate care. We also work with fulfilment partners, MK Snap, who are adults with learning difficulties, providing meaningful employment opportunities.
